JOB SUMMARY
The Product Manager (SPM) leads product development, profitability growth, and market strategy development and execution for assigned product lines. This role requires expertise in financial analysis, strategic planning, market research, business case development, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver value-driven solutions. Serves as the product line total business owner and subject matter expert from both a business and technical perspective.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Product Strategy & Roadmap Development: Define the long-term vision and strategy for assigned product lines, aligning with corporate goals.
- Product Portfolio Optimization: Continuously assess the product line to drive market expansion, unique selling propositions, cost reductions, and SKU rationalization.
- New Product Development: Lead ideation, prototyping, and commercialization efforts with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teams.
- Innovation & R&D Collaboration: Lead cross-functional teams in developing next-generation product solutions.
- Market Intelligence & Customer Insights: Conduct extensive industry research, gather customer feedback, and track competitive movements.
- P&L Management & Financial Analysis: Track profitability, sales performance, and margin contributions while recommending cost-saving initiatives.
- Revenue & Growth Management: Drive initiatives to increase sales, margin contribution, and brand presence in the market.
- Go-to-Market Execution: Develop product positioning, messaging, and launch strategies in collaboration with marketing.
- Customer & Channel Partner Engagement: Develop relationships with key accounts, contractors, and distributors to increase adoption.
- Distributor & Sales Team Support: Create sales tools, technical documentation, and training programs to enhance sales effectiveness.
- Pricing Strategy & Revenue Growth: Establish pricing models and discounting structures to optimize revenue and market share.
- Team Leadership & Development: Provide mentorship and guidance to Associate Product Managers and junior team members.

REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work across functional and organizational lines to drive alignment and action.
- Must have a history of working successfully with third parties and in a collaborative, team environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills demonstrated through robust presentations, effective negotiations, well-executed sales strategy support and clear, concise written proposals.
- Strong sales acumen and understanding of sales cycles.
- Strong technical acumen; ability to translate technical details into effective messaging.
- Adept at developing product knowledge and sales approach.
- Proven track record of impacting sales growth through cultivating strong customer relationships, and navigation of unique industry, channel, and product challenges.
- Experience and success in business/market development capacities.
- 20% to 50% travel at times may be required, and flexibility for global travel as needed.
- Proficiency in utilizing project management software to structure and execute projects.
- Proven track record of leading high-impact product launches.
- Strong Leadership capabilities, managing up, across, and down organizational hierarchy.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably business-related.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience, preferably in the building materials industry.
- High level of competency using Microsoft Office programs.
- Working knowledge of financial reporting and CRM systems.
