Director, Engineering & Technical Service

Position Summary:

In this position, the Director, Engineering & Technical Service will play a key role in the overall success of our organization by planning, managing, and monitoring engineering and Technical Services functions. This position is responsible for overseeing various engineering projects, processes, budgets, and timelines and making any necessary adjustments in order to ensure successful completion. The Director, Engineering & Technical Service is a critical position within the management structure validating data and processes to drive growth and mitigate potential liability concerns.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the engineering leader and technical expert
  • Hire, train, and supervise engineering staff members
  • Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff
  • Resolve technical challenges brought forth by the engineering team and field resources with sound engineering judgement driven by data
  • Oversee communications and methods used by engineering staff to alleviate liability concerns
  • Manage Technical Services, ensure recommendations are supported with data and technical documentation
  • Prioritize and supervise the completion of various engineering-related presentations, white papers and technical bulletins both internally and externally
  • Spearhead various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes
  • Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects
  • Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers

Education/Job Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Master’s degree in engineering management or business administration preferred
  • 6+ years of engineering experience, ideally in a management role
  • Leadership skills necessary to manage and develop a team
  • Analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving various complex problems
  • Must be task oriented and focused on priorities predicated upon the 80/20 principle
  • Travel – up to 30-40% (both domestic and international)
  • Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the entire engineering team on track
  • Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience
