Position: Master Production Planner

Reports To: VP, Operations & Supply Chain

Location: Shelton, CT (preferred) or New Orleans, LA

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Operations, Sales, and Finance to ensure a consensus planning process delivers an agreed-upon volume forecast and is achievable; ensure gaps and overlaps are addressed, scenarios are completed, and issues are appropriately escalated to meet business objectives.
  • Integrate bookings & sales forecast and other product demand signals to create a consensus demand forecast.
  • Help develop tools to help better understand capacity for overall operations.
  • Recommend/Communicate Capacity plans to optimal inventory levels at various locations across the supply chain and support the proactive management of those levels in order to achieve targeted customer satisfaction as well as mitigate inventory exposure.
  • Assist in quantifying and defining scope for capacity, resource, logistics, and supply chain planning.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at improving current business processes.
  • Prepares weekly master production schedule and plans and establishes production scheduling activities
  • Monitors material inventories, tracks progress of production and reviews factors that affect schedules, ensuring that the schedule is aligned with current sales
  • Prepares reports pertaining to completed units, remainder to build, capacity planning, etc.
  • Helps to maintain/manage promise dates for customer orders within manufacturing capacity
  • Adjusts work schedules to meet special order requirements, when necessary
  • Conduct daily/weekly production meetings as necessary to align resources
  • Manage Bill of Materials and other related ERP functions and periodic changes. Represent operations for annual update of standards by supplying key financial data including freight, labor and overhead costs.
  • Lead the company's physical inventory semi-annually, or as needed.
  • Assist in the development of S&OP management reviews, prepare all data and metrics for review, identify gaps and scenarios that must be presented, guide final decision making on open items and trade-offs, and prepare escalations for executive review where appropriate
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor

 Education and Experience:

  • Technical Bachelor's degree; Logistics or Supply Chain preferred
  • 3-5 years related experience
  • ERP system experience, Sage preferred
  • Six Sigma Green Belt and/or APICS certification is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, negotiating skills, strong team player
  • Strong decision-making skills. Multitasker. Ability to make timely decisions while including appropriate people in decision-making process.
  • Adapt to change in the work environment by dealing with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
  • Excellent math skills required. Highly proficient with Excel.

Other Requirements

  • Requirement to travel:    
    • Shelton Based: (10-20%) – heaviest travel mid-year and year-end
    • New Orleans Based (30-40%) w/frequent travel to CT
