Five Star® Xtreme Performance XP 230 Epoxy Grout is a wind tower bearing plate elimination system with an industry-leading compressive strength of 23,000 psi (159 MPa). A three-component engineered system, it is low exothermic, 100% solids, solvent-free, and non-shrink as tested per ASTM C1090 with high fatigue resistance under dynamic conditions. Ultra-high compressive strength spreads the load between the tower and foundation in one step, eliminating the need for a two-step installation of an expensive steel bearing plate. Once cured, a full-contact, weather-tight connection between the tower and foundation is formed, creating a stronger connection between the dynamic tower and its static foundation than is possible with a steel-bearing plate. Low exotherm and high flow mean it can be poured up to 14 inches (36 cm) deep in a single lift with a working time of 45 minutes. High early strength of 10,000 psi (69 MPa) is achieved in 4 hours at 90°F (32°C) and 8 hours at 70°F (21°C) to facilitate cost-saving installation of additional tower sections in as little as one day.
